About This Lesson
The stills in this document were used after the children had been learning about explanation texts. Our topic at the time was 'The Arctic' so it fit pretty well. We watched 'March of the Penguins' and then wrote an explanation text to show what the penguins did and the cycle that is involved in their march. The stills really helped the LA children; as they ordered them before writing.
Interesting idea to use 'March of the Penguins' as a stimuli for writing. I think I'll look further into this idea to support my class in writing their explanations. This could prove a simple way to engage pupils' enthusiasm for writing. Thank you - this has motivated me in a different direction.
