About This Lesson

One of the most interesting units I have ever taught 'Film Narrative' (Year 5) - could be based on The Piano (by Aidan Gibbons available on YouTube) or The Snowman (film). This is a scaffold for scene analysis of The Piano. I used this as a group activity with different groups looking at different scenes. Great for breakdown of language; encouraging children's discussion and developing empathy; etc; for characters. Children can then describe their scenes; use of language; etc in presentation to the rest of the class.
