This might be more shocking to students because of the idea of eating things that have been thrown away, rather than because of the shocking amount of food which is thrown away, but this is a really good clip- short, to the point and informative. Being a Freegan must be really time-consuming, I'm curious about how they have time to earn a living!

You can find much more interesting videos on freeganism on youtube. This one is rather boring. In reply to ther other commenter, freeganism can actually save time. When you would otherwise be balking at supermarket prices, you could be pulling enough good meat out of a dumpster to fill an entire chest freezer. That said, many supermarkets now lock their dumpsters to prevent it, out of fear of lawsuits. The real issue this raises has to do with the long-term viability of capitalism and urbanization, not so much the practicality of freeganism itself.
