About This Lesson
Gabby Giffords Won’t Back Down is an acclaimed documentary that tells the extraordinary story of former Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords: her relentless fight to recover following an assassination attempt in 2011, and her new life as one of the most effective activists in the battle against gun violence.
This film and corresponding Independent Learning Guide supports educators seeking new tools to address and discuss gun violence in the classroom, but also can be expanded beyond that or used to explore other important topics. The Independent Learning Guide's key sections can each be used on their own or in collaboration with other key sections. The guide is flexible and appropriate for classroom use, community learning settings, homeschool learners, hybrid educational settings and independent exploration of the film. Each key section features a driving question, useful terms (when applicable), personal reflection, discussion questions, extension activities and additional resources.
A discussion guide for the film is also available through Journeys in Film.
