About This Lesson

This is a project to give some real-life explanation to why you have been graphing quadratics. It allows students to also argue and talk about math, not just plug in numbers. A great activity for my classroom and added some excitement.

-First, show the video of the hit by Shane Victorino, and discuss as a class if you believe it is a homerun or not. Then talk about what the balls path looks like (a parabola).

-Once my students completed, I had them either present their finding or write a one-page summary of their findings.
