About This Lesson

Game like Hap Fams (Am. – Go Fish). Families of 4 depict words that use common spellings to produce diff sounds. Player asks another p'r for a partic 'fam mem' (every card bears the IPA transcr. of all mmbrs).– etc.The ‘families’ are words that share a vowel sound; so that there are two ‘bow’ cards (one in the /a?/ family and one in the /??/ family. .Class size is a problem. But in classes where the sets of cards are too small; two or more can be combined – leading to productive ‘clashes’ between; for example; ‘treasure’ in the EA pack and ‘leisure’ in the EI pack.

Thank you so much for posting this! My intermediate adult students were struggling with "ough" pronunciation. These cards are excellent!
