In 2011, Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs hosted a delegation of ten senior figures from the Russian media who were part of a bilateral presidential commission set up by presidents Medvedev and Obama.

We have pulled excerpts (found here) from four different powerful Russian figures from private, government, and opposition media, for their takes on freedom of the press in their country. These excerpts serve as explanations about the state's relationship to the media that are rarely heard in the West.
