About This Lesson
Alternatives to internal combustion engines have been tried over the years, but none have outlasted or replaced the gasoline-or diesel-powered internal combustion engine. Presently, several automotive companies are doing research to create electricity without combustion, but the technology is still a few years away. Electric vehicles have been around for nearly a century, but have never been popular replacements. Resource provided by the U.S. Department of Energy. CCSS alignment: 6.RP.3, 7.RP.3
