Want to educate your students about regulating their own emotions and feelings?! Read below!
Learning is about more than just letters and numbers. Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) includes knowing how to handle emotions, set goals, and make good decisions. Social, emotional, and physical development are all important to students' health and well-being. First Book and CASEL (Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning) have partnered to develop book-and-resource pairs to help kids to understand and develop their feelings and better manage their emotions.
The I'm New Here book-and-resource pair helps students to explore and understand self-management, which is the ability to regulate one's emotions, thoughts, and behaviors effectively in different situations. In I'm New Here students will follow the journeys of three students from different countries that must start over in a new school. Throughout the stories the students learn to make friends and find their place in their new environment. The I'm New Here resource guide will help students to empathize with the main characters while identifying their own emotions and thoughts to help them to find their own unique place in and outside of the classroom!
