About This Lesson

This is a review activity for ionic bonding. PowerPoint to be used as hand outs. Students are given a "dating card" each which gives an element and some information about them. Students need to "speed date" with each other to find another element (or elements) to form a bond with in order to make a compound.wrap up- certificate sheet. students given a certificate of bonding sheet; they must draw a dot and cross diagram for the compound they made as well as explain in terms of electrons/oxidation states why they decided to make this compound.

I only had one kid in my class who didn't have fun doing this... and it's always the same kid that complains about everything... so I would call this an absolute winner!!! Check out Ionic bonding dominoes for a great starter too.
