About This Lesson
- Students will write the equations of parabolas in standard form.
- Students will identify the vertex and the axis of symmetry of a parabola and graph a parabola.
- Students will complete the square to put equations for parabolas into standard form.
- Students will understand how the coefficient a in the standard equation determines the orientation of the parabola, i.e., opening upwards or downwards.
