Making Tens Strategy

This is the first lesson of an 8 lesson unit titled " Math Strategies/Literature Unit." The unit was written to address the domain of operations and algebraic thinking while integrating literature as well. In Grade 1, one critical area of instructional time is developing understanding of addition, subtraction, and strategies for addition and subtraction within 20.
