On the 9th October 2012, 15 year-old Pakistani schoolgirl Malala Yousafzai was shot by the Taliban. Her crime? Being a girl and wanting an education. Gordon Brown has called for the 10th November to be named Malala Day - so use this assembly to help your students understand why the campaign for girls' education is so important. Useful resources including a play, game, links to blogs on the topic of Education being a right for all, specific focus is on the case of Malala Yousafzai. Some UK spelling differences but can be easily adapted.
