About This Lesson

A paper model to show the structure of alpha and beta glucose and how glycosidic bonds are formed. This works best if photocopied onto card. The OH groups can be flipped over to explain the difference between alpha and beta glucose. If you cut along the dotted snip lines the alpha glucose glycosidic bonds automatically curl up into rings (to show alpha helices) and the beta glycosidic bonds form straight lines (to show beta pleated sheets).
