About This Lesson

Otters are at the top of their food web and concentrate (bio-accumulate) man-made toxic and/or non-biodegradable chemicals in their bodies. Samples taken from dead otters at Cardiff University have been used to monitor pollution for around 20 years. Dead otters, usually from road collisions, are sent into Cardiff from all parts of England and Wales. The otter project also investigate many other aspects of otter (Lutra lutra) biology and ecology.
