About This Lesson

This is an introduction to the topics of motion and forces. For motion, speed and direction is introduced, and described with an arrow. The students then as a group, follow arrows shown on screen and move around the room (like square dancing) to get a physical feel of the direction and speed. For forces, after a brief discussing about how force is needed to change motion, they predict the direction of force needed to speed up/ slow down and turn an object. They then practice this by making an air puck or a ball follow a prescribed path (made with tape) on the ground.
