About This Lesson

Students view several of Rockwell's well known words and analyze for what they can infer about the artist and purpose of the work. They are then introduced to some of Rockwell's works inspired by the civil rights movement, and asked to make some inferences and predictions. Great writing prompts that lead to stirring classroom discussions. Works well with texts like To Kill A Mockingbird, or other novels that explore race and prejudice. Very Common Core friendly.
