In this STEAM activity that integrates art in science, students observe and describe how an octopus can change its shape, color, size, and texture to blend in with its environment. Students sculpt their own dough octopus, and vary its texture, size, shape, and color while practicing using descriptive words to explain their finished project. A transcript of the octopus video this activity is based on, with informational text questions is provided along with modifications for a paper-based activity. Don't forget to print-out a vampire-squid hat to add to the fun!
