About This Lesson

This animations shows shows the change in the fundamental frequency of a pipe, such as that found in an organ, when the length of the pipe is changes.

The ration of the frequency of the current note to that of the original (220 Hz (A)) to that of the current length is also shown. Notice that the ratio is 2:1 when the pitch of the note has increased by one octave, and the length of the tube has halved.
