About This Lesson

The use of color visually shows students the patterns of their creative writing and emphasises repetition of style or variety of sentence structure. Students are given rulers each and a handful of colored pencils on their desks. The exercise can be done on the pc or a hard copy in the classroom; and the procedure/instructions can be displayed on whiteboard or in a handout. The aim is discussion of sentence variety as either a method of analysis; or as a means to improve a written piece.
