About This Lesson
Students often describe biochemical pathways as “boring”. They miss the excitement of discovery that accompanied the original scientific breakthroughs. This encourages students to “take a look behind the scenes” of the biochemical breakthrough that led to our understanding of how plants convert sunlight energy to the potential energy of carbohydrates. When a Nobel prize is awarded, it is traditional for the winner to give a lecture about the work. Students will read Calvin's Nobel lecture and will produce an introduction for his 1961-prize winning work using a modern presentation tool.
