Reading and Writing for a purpose offers various reading strategies for focused reading. The original intent for the unit was NYS Regents review, but the focused reading can be used with any text. The unit focuses on multiple-choice testing and reading strategies. A review of the three functions of poetry is included. SQ3R is used as a central method for note-taking and organizing data.

All lesson plans are PPTX presentations. The teacher instruction and student instruction are incorporated into the PPTX.
