Interactive instructional practice to improve students' comprehension strategies. Teacher and students lead dialogue based upon 4 strategies: generating questions; summarizing; clarifying; and predicting. Responsibility shifts from teacher to students.
WWC evidence indicates evidence for adolescent learners is medium-large for comprehension.
Useful for students in middle and secondary grades with adaptation to texts and developmental needs of learners.
