About This Lesson

Relationship Between Energy and Forces - Legends of Learning

In this series of games, your students will learn how forces transfer energy. The Relationship Between Energy and Forces learning objective — based on NGSS and state standards — delivers improved student engagement and academic performance in your classroom, as demonstrated by research.

This lesson is accompanied by nine (9) standards-based science games and a teacher-crafted lesson plan, which can be found at the following link: www.legendsoflearning.com/learning-objectives/relationship-between-energy-and-forces/

Standards

Develop a model to describe that when the arrangement of objects interacting at a distance changes, different amounts of potential energy are stored in the system.
Plan an investigation to determine the relationships among the energy transferred, the type of matter, the mass, and the change in the average kinetic energy of the particles as measured by the temperature of the sample.
Construct, use, and present arguments to support the claim that when the kinetic energy of an object changes, energy is transferred to or from the object.
Use evidence to construct an explanation relating the speed of an object to the energy of that object.
Ask questions and predict outcomes about the changes in energy that occur when objects collide.
