About This Lesson

The goal of this two to three day exemplar is to give students the opportunity to use the reading and writing habits they’ve been practicing on a regular basis to make meaning out of Shakespeare’s play. By reading and re-reading the passage closely, and focusing their reading through a series of questions and discussion about the text, students will identify the many ways Shakespeare explores how Romeo and Juliet express their love for one another. Aligned to Common Core State Standards: RL.8.1, RL.8.2, RL.8.4, RL.8.8; W.8.2, W.8.9; SL.8.1; L.8.4, L.8.5, L.8.6
