About This Lesson
At Google headquarters in Mountain View, California, computer scientist Sebastian Thrun and his team of software engineers are creating a fleet of self-driving cars. His innovative approach to artificial intelligence is what makes these cars such a success.
In this lesson students will do the following: brainstorm a list of inspirations that develop an interest in a particular problem that needs a solution, make a simple maze that allows a device to navigate as students observe the “tools” the robot uses to navigate and carry out its function, research “motion-detecting” devices that work off of infrared or electromagnetic (EM) waves, and research motion planning as it petains to robots.
