About This Lesson

I designed myriad cross-curricular "labs", with a view toward combining math, science, English (composition and speech), and other subjects into a one or two-day activity/challenge to be incorporated into the Math curriculum. By and large, they fell on deaf ears, dismissed as "we don't have time", but I did manage to squeeze this one into our geometry unit. Feel free to use it yourselves. It combines geometric concepts of volume and surface area with persuasive writing and oral presentation. Aligned to Common Core State Standards: 7.G.6, 8.G.9

I am always looking for engaging activities that have my students working and thinking critically about the topics. This fits the bill! Thanks for sharing.
