About This Lesson

On January 28, 1986, the Space Shuttle Challenger launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, FL. 73 seconds into the flight, the shuttle broke apart and fell into the ocean. None of the seven crew members survived, including Christa McAuliffe, a teacher from New Hampshire who had been selected to join the mission as part of NASA's Teacher in Space Program.
