About This Lesson

In this lesson, students prepare for a debate on copyright violation. They can take the perspective of the consumer, artist/actor, or recording industry. This blended lesson utilizes a station rotation approach whereby three stations are set up: face-to-face direct instruction from the teacher, independent online research, and collaborative group work. Prior to the lesson, students will be provided with some background information to the topic, definitions of key related terms, and a crash course on intellectual property rights (a YouTube video). The lesson then begins with an opening session where all students are in one big group, then they break up into 3 groups and rotate before coming together for a concluding session.
