About This Lesson

This lesson plan is ideally for grade 9, geometry, where in it has a detailed information as to how we arrive at the surface area of the cuboid and cube, inducto-deductive method is used to derive the surface area, and there are a little problem based learning strategies that are being used, various teaching aids are used both as static and working models. As a recap there is a video which summarizes the entire lesson for better and practical understanding.

Standards

Represent three-dimensional figures using nets made up of rectangles and triangles, and use the nets to find the surface area of these figures. Apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving area, volume and surface area of two- and three-dimensional objects composed of triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, cubes, and right prisms.
