About This Lesson

This resource pack is designed to support educators undertaking the Australian Curriculum’s v8.3 Senior Secondary Modern History Unit 2: Movements for Change in the 20th Century.  The pack provides material for teachers who are undertaking the topic of study Recognition and Rights of Indigenous Peoples. The included material and resources will support students to investigate the ways in which institutions, Indigenous, and non-Indigenous Australians, have challenged their ways of knowing, being, and doing in the 20th century (Martin & Mirraboopa, 2003). 

The key underpinnings of the pack will assist students in gaining a comprehensive understanding of the history of race relations in Australia, the factors that lead to the development of the Reconciliation Movement, the processes adopted to achieve effective change, the developments of the movement, and the shifting perspectives of the movement.
