About This Lesson

This lesson gets your students to read part of an actual Supreme Court decision. The lesson takes quotes from the justices decision on Obergefell v. Hodges, the Court's June 2015 ruling on same-sex marriage. The original ruling was over 100 pages, but the summary is only 9 pages, and it includes the essence of the majority decision as well as all four dissents. Also included are guide questions for the students to answer in writing, and these will also lead to discussions in the classroom.
