About This Lesson
The purpose of this narrative unit is to establish a foundation of writing structures and skills that we will build on as we learn about and write more rhetorical pieces. Within this unit students read many sample narratives from past students and famous authors. The lesson includes scaffolding of elements such as outlining, adding sensory detail, and structure. Additionally, sharing narrative stories in the classroom builds community and a positive culture among the teacher and students.
