About This Lesson

Teaching Point: Students will study the website tenement.org as a means of understanding how many of the immigrants lived in NYC in the 1800 - early 1900s. Discuss immigrant experience from turn of last century from what students have learned in their classes. Demonstrate how to get to the topic information on tenement.org and have students go on the website. In the second section have students complete a Scavenger Hunt on information on the website.
