About This Lesson
10th grade U.S. History. Students will be taught the historical significance of the Christopher Columbus and Bacon’s Rebellion during early settlements in the United States. Students will attempt to understand what they would do differently and how their decisions would alter the current environment.
Students will learn how to analyze text, specifically, Howard Zinn’s A Peoples History of The United States: 1492 to 2001. Students will be able to differentiate between multiple viewpoints while providing extra research to further promote their views on the subject matter. Students will utilize the skills they learn in previous lessons. We will start with teacher-led whole class instruction; there will be an instructional videodisc-based application for students to utilize different behavioral strategies.
One All-period block day and two regular block schedule days during each week. First class session on Monday’s is 55 minutes, and regular block schedule days run for approximately two hours. Monday classes are shorter; Tuesday/Wednesday lessons will start on Monday and then continue on Tuesday/Wednesday lecture period.
