About This Lesson

In this two week unit designed for an agricultural biology class, students explore the phenomenon of declining bee populations around the world. The end goal is for students to make a presentation for local officials and stakeholders with an overview of the problem and recommendations for addressing the problem. Throughout the unit, students study bee group behavior, plant reproduction, and research reasons for the bee decline, including those due to human impacts. Instructional activities include creating a model, close readings, a jigsaw reading activity, and a webquest. The NGSS standards addressed by this unit include HS-LS2-6, HS-LS2-7, and HS-LS-8.
