About This Lesson
This is an 11th grade U.S. History Unit plan that leads students through the process of developing an idea of what it means to be an American. This is done through the context of the American Revolution and the formation of the country. Students should explore documents, ideas, and actions that led to the American Revolution, and the writing of the Constitution and Bill of rights. They should then explore how those ideas still effect and shape us today. This should lead students to think about why they act and think the way they do, as well as leading them towards a better understanding of what it means to be a citizen of the United States.
