About This Lesson

Gray wolves were re-introduced into Yellowstone National Park in 1995, resulting in a trophic cascade that has benefited the health of the Yellowstone ecosystem. In this lesson, students explore the ecological impact of wolves in Yellowstone and how their reintroduction affects many types of people. A role-playing activity helps students understand and evaluate the complex views in support of and opposed to the re-introduction of wolves. This lesson is part of curriculum related to the PBS series Earth A New Wild and was developed in collaboration with PBS LearningMedia.
