About This Lesson
This two week Social Science unit consists of ten (10) individual 55 minute lessons centered on a Project Based learning curriculum. The central focus of these lessons is American involvement in World War II, with lessons based on the California History-Social Science Content Standards for Public Schools, standards 11.7. Students will work towards understanding the United States’ role in the international events of World War II and how the war shifted domestic politics and societal status for different groups within America. The unit plan is set within the framework of a project based learning methodology where the class does not use a textbook. Lessons are adjustable for 11th grade U.S. history students of varying abilities due to differentiation in the introduction of material, guided activities and the presence of both formative and summative assessment activities.
