About This Lesson

As an end of unit group assessment, students create a representative sample of rational functions from "easy" (of the form (ax + b)/(cx+d), basic asymptotes) to "hard" (of the form (ax^2 + bx + c)/(dx + e) with a slant asymptote or (ax^2 + bx + c)/(dx^2 + ex + f) where they may be a common factor causing a hole). They work together (teacher assigned groups mixing abilities) to create these functions, produce their graphs with accurate analyses and justify their selections.
