About This Lesson

This lesson plan allows students to analyze; rate; and discuss several opening sentences from novels. Students are then taught in a mini-lesson what effective openings in their own writing would look at using the models they saw in the starting activity. To close; students self-evaluate their work. Aligned to Common Core State Standard: W.8.2
