About This Lesson

All around the country, inspired by activists from Ferguson to Parkland, a generation of young people are considering participating in their first political action or protest. They have questions. What’s the point of a walkout? Will I get in trouble? What rights do I have? How does a march turn into a movement?  Educators also have questions about teaching students civic activism: How can I support my students without taking over?  What can I discuss with students without getting in trouble?

YouthInFront is a community-created online learning resource designed to help answer these questions. It features short videos of youth civic activists and adult allies, as well as carefully summarized and curated links to additional resources from Teaching Tolerance, Facing History, the ACLU, Teen Vogue, and other sources from around the web.
