The Northwestern University Brain Awareness Outreach (NUBAO) organization is a graduate student-led public outreach initiative dedicated to educating, exciting, and inspiring Chicago area youths about the brain and the progress and benefits of neuroscience research. Founded in 2010 as part of the Northwestern University Interdepartmental Neuroscience PhD Program, NUBAO consists of a diverse group of mostly graduate students, in addition to several undergraduate students, post-doctorate fellows, faculty, and research staff from various departments and scientific disciplines at Northwestern University. Through close collaboration with public schools and science education programs in the Chicago area, NUBAO organizes hands-on lectures, workshops, and open-house style events regarding a variety of neuroscience topics for students of all ages.
