Giselle Lundy-Ponce is a PreK–12 education policy leader with more than three decades of experience in legislation, advocacy, and professional learning, working to strengthen public education and champion marginalized communities. At the American Federation of Teachers, she manages the educational rights and social justice initiatives and policy team, leads the policy and professional development portfolio on English language learners, Native American students, early childhood education, and teacher evaluation, and directs the AFT’s Center for School Improvement Leadership Institute.
In 2004, she initiated the AFT’s partnership with PBS station WETA to develop Colorín Colorado, the award-winning, most widely used online professional learning resource for educators and families of English language learners. Earlier career spans youth development, alternative education, teacher professional development, and school collaborations in Washington, DC and San Francisco. She holds a BA in political science from Reed College in Portland, Oregon, and an MA in education policy and evaluation from Stanford University.
