I am a product of Broward County Public Schools, a graduate of the Nova Schools K-12. I come from a family of educators, doctors, and nurses. I have been an educator since 1990. During my career I have served as a teacher, administrator, and researcher. However, teaching is my first love and my lifelong passion. I have taught high school English and reading, and middle school reading. I have also served in the following positions outside of the secondary classroom:
-Co-Director of the North Florida Writing Project, Florida State University
-English Education Instructor and Student Teaching Supervisor, Florida State University
-English Education and Foundations of Education professor at Rowan University (formerly Glassboro State Teachers College), New Jersey
-English Education professor at the University of South Florida
-Multicultural Curriculum Development/Training Specialist, Broward County Public Schools
-Director, Diversity & Cultural Outreach, Broward County Public Schools
-Adjunct Professor of English as a Second Language and Reading, Broward College.
I have presented at local, state, and national conferences in English Education and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). I have published in professional journals and books.
