Quincy FOT: Commit to the Core

The Quincy Federation of Teachers, with support from the AFT Innovation Fund, has played a leading role in helping the Quincy, Illinois community understand and support the Common Core State Standards. In partnership with the Quincy Public Schools, the federation created a campaign, “Commit to the Core,” that explains the standards to the public. Through a website, public-service announcements, flyers, and a series of public presentations, the union has highlighted the benefits of higher standards for students. In addition, the campaign has featured specific events for parents to explain ways they can help their children meet the new standards.
