The mission of Journeys in Film is to use the storytelling power of film to help educate our next generation with a richer understanding of the diverse and complex world in which we live. Our goal is to help students mitigate existing attitudes of cultural bias and racism, cultivate human empathy and compassion, develop a deeper knowledge of global issues and current challenges, and prepare them for effective participation in the world economy as globally competent citizens. We accomplish this by developing interdisciplinary educational curriculum based on award-winning films and aligned with current educational standards. We prepare teachers to use film effectively in the classroom through professional development workshops. Our films and standards-based curricula integrate multicultural worldviews expressed in each film and offer students a compelling way to connect to our contemporary world. We walk teachers through lesson plans in math, science, social studies, language arts and media literacy specifically designed for each Journeys in Film title.
