The Teaching Immigration series equips teachers with tested, contemporary tools and strategies to incorporate immigration across the curriculum, teach English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), create more welcoming classrooms, foster understanding and empathy, and center the immigrant voice in conversations. The Teaching Immigration series is created by The Immigrant Learning Center, Inc. (ILC) of Malden, MA, a not-for-profit organization founded in 1992 that gives immigrants a voice in three ways.
An English Language Program provides free, year-round English classes to immigrant and refugee adults in Greater Boston to help them become successful workers, parents and community members. The ILC Public Education Institute informs Americans about the economic and social contributions of immigrants in our society. The Institute for Immigration Research, a joint venture with George Mason University, conducts national and local research on the economic contributions of immigrants.
