For nearly four decades, Advocates for Youth has worked tirelessly to promote effective adolescent reproductive and sexual health programs and policies in the United States and the global south. Advocates for Youth believes that:
- Youth have the inalienable RIGHT to honest sexual health information, confidential, consensual sexual health services, and equitable opportunities to reach their full potential.
- Youth deserve RESPECT. Valuing young people means authentically involving them in the design, implementation and evaluation of programs and policies that affect their health and well-being.
- Society has the RESPONSIBILITY to provide young people with the tools they need to safeguard their sexual health, and young people have the responsibility to protect themselves.
Rights, Respect, Responsibility (3Rs) is a sex education curriculum that fully meets the National Sexuality Education Standards and seeks to address both the functional knowledge related to sexuality and the specific skills necessary to adopt healthy behaviors. Rights, Respect, Responsibility reflects the tenets of social learning theory, social cognitive theory and the social ecological model of prevention.
