Jon Vincent is the Rise Up educational access coordinator at the Kentucky Refugee Ministries (KRM), in Louisville. KRM is a refugee resettlement agency that also provides services to asylees and parolees from Cuba and Haiti, as well as clients from Afghanistan and Ukraine who fled their countries in 2021-23. He works in the broad realm of college and career readiness, and with the teen and young adult population. Vincent handles educational case management, which includes assistance with college and university applications, referrals to GED services and high school alternatives, assistance finding vocational education, and many, many other opportunities around Louisville. He oversees the mentorship program for this age range, placing teens and young adults with mentors who can assist them with their educational, career, and social emotional goals. He also takes young people on monthly trips, ranging from campus tours, tours of work sites for various industries, to city parks, and to museums. He also helps lead the high school-aged portion of KRM’s summer program for youth who have recently arrived in the U.S. He has worked at KRM for almost two years, and says that he loves it and the impact it has on young people.
